Bowling Green- Quarles says legislative and farm background key to election

By Michael Glossum, WBKO-TV– Republican candidate for Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles stopped in Bowling Green for a fundraiser this week.

He stopped by the studio and tells us why his farming background and legislative background are important to be ag commissioner.

“My time served as a legislator in the general assembly is a good background to have, because Commissioner Billy Ray Smith from just right up the road and Commissioner Comer who has done a great job with the department, both of those individuals had a legislative background before they became Ag Commissioner and they both have farm backgrounds as well. That’s the sort of background I bring as a candidate for the commissioner of agriculture,” said Quarles.

Quarles is running against democrat Jean-Marie Lawson Spann who is from this area and is a WKU graduate
